Seven Things I Wish Pro-Gay People Would Admit

1. I wish they would admit that many people are not happy with their homosexuality or lesbianism, and that this conflict is internal, based on legitimate, intelligent religious and moral convictions--not just the result of a so-called "homophobic" society which is forcing guilt upon people who don't conform to a heterosexual ethic.
Stop throwing out the cheap, inaccurate labels like "internalized homophobia" to explain our motivations.
2. I wish they would acknowledge that homosexuals and lesbians can experience significant change in their sexual feelings and desires, even though they may never be totally heterosexual in their sexual thoughts and feelings.
Be honest enough to admit that such change is significant and genuine, even if it isn't complete.
3. I wish they would acknowledge that many former homosexuals and lesbians have found a greater measure of peace and satisfaction after leaving a gay or lesbian lifestyle than they ever experienced while embracing homosexuality.
Not all "ex-gays" are miserable, plotting how to secretly fulfill their homosexual lusts without being caught.
4. I wish they would acknowledge that many former homosexuals and lesbians have genuine joy in their marriages.
Most former gays and lesbians don't get married in a futile attempt to "escape" homosexuality; they marry as a natural consequence of resolving that issue in their lives.
5. I wish they would acknowledge that all people have as much right to pursue a heterosexual lifestyle as they do to pursue homosexuality.
Former homosexuals and lesbians should not be harassed and castigated by the gay community. But I have never heard any gay or lesbian leaders speak out against the violence (such as bomb threats and physical/verbal abuse) which some people perpetuate against Exodus ministries.
6. I wish they would stop equating our decision to leave homosexuality with "hatred" and "bigotry" against gays and lesbians.
We don't hate gays; we simply desire to live free of homosexuality. Don't put nasty labels upon our motives. That's being judgmental and unfair.
7. I wish pro-gay religious leaders would admit that their endorsement and promotion of monogamous homosexual relationships is a facade.
Many--probably most--men and women involved in long-term partnerships are not sexually monogamous, but gay churches don't discipline members for committing "adultery" outside their "gay marriage." Neither do they discipline gays or lesbians who have sex before entering into a "holy union" with their partner.

The 'stem cells and cloning' debates suddenly became far more complex than "religion versus cures." Because my medical condition was being used to mislead the Senate, I felt used and betrayed. However, perhaps Reeve was betrayed far worse.

Update I checked out the picture and the dead terrorist is an Iraqi. I like the fact that the guy who took the picture did such a good job of covering his tracks. I got this from Snopes. We have an unconfirmed report that the second photo depicts an insurgent killed in Mosul by the Iraqi National Guard on 8 December 2004. The dead man, we're told, had been one of seven enemy combatants (not suicide bombers) ordered to emerge unarmed from a mosque in that city. They resisted, and all were killed.
I also want people to know I would be proud to show this picture to my mother because I know my source for the picture of the dead Iraqi. My guys know how to stay anonymous and unconfirmed. The other picture at Snopes is some signal corps guy trying to take credit in Yugoslavia. I hope he can take the heat because he knows he did not make the shot. Soldiers are not allowed to take pictures of dead combatants. When they do they get into legal trouble unless only their family knows. ==evil grin==

This legislative trend is based on recent scientific evidence suggesting that therapeutic benefits will not be safely obtained from the cloning of human embryos unless such “fetus farming” is allowed.So the attempt to distinguish therapeutic from reproductive cloning has broken down: What was once called “reproductive” cloning (placing cloned embryos in a womb) is being accepted as a necessary part of so-called “therapeutic” cloning. This new agenda has required a shift in definitions. Increasingly, “reproductive” cloning is said to occur only if a cloned human being is brought to full term and born alive. In this way a law can be called a ban on “reproductive” cloning even if its only legal effect is to mandate abortion for any woman carrying a cloned unborn child in her womb.
Wesley Smith also has voiced concern about these very things also along with Robert George. We really will have to be brave to face this new world of horrors science wants to bring to us. I am an instant grandfather with the marriage of my son to the woman of his choosing who just happens to already have a son. The hard work of the wedding is done and the life of the new family has begun. God and his handiwork in my life continies to amaze and surprise me. Jaded older man that I am. May God always be praised in all that he does. May my smart, crazy and interesting friends I have made in the blogosphere continue share the richness of the information age. I am going to pack up this computer and put her in the shop for a beauty treatment. Or is that a better memory? I fergit. The same old evil grin shall return again and may the devil be sweating knowing that the heat of hell awaits he and his.

Since no one has taken me to task for the advertisement bar on my site I guess I will point out that Embryonic stem cells have never sucessfully treated anybody and that adult stem cells mostly obtained from umbilical cord blood have sucessfully been used in over two hundred and growing types of medical treatment. The only thing embryonic stem cells have done is caused is tumors and of course involve the destruction of human beings in the process. Those are the facts and I dare anyone to prove otherwise.

Surgery Finally Scheduled

I went to the oral surgeon's office today and paid seven hundred and twenty dollars cash toward my surgery. It is scheduled for the eighteenth of this month in the morning. It does not leave much money in my account but it is past due to be done and I can no longer wait for my back pay to show up if ever. My wife will get money from the insurance company of at least fifty percent of what I paid. She can use that to help make the mortgage payment and keep her account from being overdrawn unless another surprise emergency comes from Mark. He has cost the family budget at least nine hundred dollars in December alone and was the cause of another overdraft charge. Now his school loan collectors are demanding another four hundred to start a payment schedule for this month. My wife is beginning to understand just how costly it is supporting a lazy adult child who should have gotten a job months ago. (they are available especially in the Autocad Drafting field that his school loans paid for) One hell of a way to start the New Year but if I could not gripe here I might just explode and kill some poor fool who pissed me off. The lame brained libtard wondering what he did to get such a hostile response. I am pro life but as they say in Texas, "Some people just need killin." I try not to be the judge, jury and executioner but I am superbly trained for the executioner part. I found that to be very true in combat. Some of our better planned and accomplished ambushes were more like an execution than a fair fight. One of the first things you learn in combat is that a fair fight is not what you are looking for because that just gets your friends killed needlessly. As Patton said,"Make the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

Christmas Updates

I am having an interesting Christmas to say the least. I am very glad to be rid of AOL and their changing of the message boards to an HTML format while cluttering things up with advertising that makes each page slow to load. When the regulars on the message boards complained vigorously we were ignored. So I voted with my feet and most importantly my money. Since AOL is arrogant enough to keep taking money even after you leave my advice is to do a stop payment on whatever account you use to pay the bill including an unexplained eight extra dollars a month that I tried to get my too busy wife to complain about. I like this action instead of inaction much better. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year holidays to all who visit this cranky older man who still manages to Celebrate God's Greatest Gift and message of love.

Making Major Changes

Who am I? I am alive and that is enough to start with. In this country I am supposed to start off with the right to 'Life', Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Post Roe vs Wade I have a one in four chance of not even making it to birth alive. They say the only things sure are death and taxes. Well let me tell you abortion sure is one way to get out of paying taxes. I would say that is a way too extreme way since the child in question just might rather live to pay taxes. Instead the parents of an aborted child pay the sin taxes. The wages of sin is death and there are so many forces set in motion by such a simple thing as sin that humanity has lost the ability to even comprehend the consequences. First Adam and Eve the first couple suffered spiritual death in the loss of fellowship with God and the Holy Spirit. Next they experienced the loss of physical eternal life in that they would eventually die. God created them perfectly and instead they grew old and died. When someone you love dies no matter how old it hurts. Have you ever wondered why? Why the sense of loss? Isn't that the natural way of things? I am here to tell you that no it is not. Dying is not a natural process and that is one reason why we as humans fight it instinctively.
Enough preaching for now. In an update on my SSDI problems. I decided to not worry about that since I have other more pressing and depressing problems that needed prayerful dealing with. Mark has moved back home with his now pregnant girlfriend whom he has asked to marry him. I managed to spend almost all of my money put in my new checking account on rebuilding the swimming pool pumphouse. Yep I got the new door hung and the last of the siding nailed up and painted. In celebration I showed it off to Alex and then rolled us out for a walk to the local taco stand. Alex and I shared with Asher the Chihuahua from our four messy meaty tacos. Alex managed to drink all of his coke and half of mine on the walk back home. Asher just had to suffer until visiting the home water bowl. Not that he was suffering much after managing to eat all the meat that fell out of those tacos. He easily kept up with the wheelchair and prefered to walk rather than ride as he sometimes does. Life is good and I would rather be around to pay more taxes. ==evil grin==

Or maybe the title should be never trust your government to do anything right. To say that I am disappointed in the people who administer this program is a monumental understatement. After talking twice to Social Security representatives I had the understanding that since I never applied for SSI that the first month payment which they held back should be paid. Then I call again because two weeks of the within ten days that I was to be contacted had passed. I called and got Sonia on the phone. I explained what had been happening and that the contact deadline had passed. Sonia decided since it was just before the holiday she was going to play head games with me and told me the rules state that no one is paid for the first month of eligibility. I explained that I had waited the five months and the letter of award stated that my first payment had been held back. I learned a valuable lesson if you are dealing with a black civil servant you might as well hang up and hope that you get somebody who can actually understand plain english and does not resent white males. She told me that she would send me a pamphlet explaining the rules. She instead sent me a pamphlet explaining about the Ticket to Work and Self Sufficiency Program. Sounds like a strong hint to me. Then again maybe I can get a job where I have the power to play petty games with people who need medical help. They say power corrupts and petty power must corrupt also. Unfortunately for Sonia I am an intelligent white male and I plan on complaining about her to as many people as I can. That includes my district congressman and senator both of whom I have written and gotten responses from in the past. I plan on calling her supervisor on Monday to start the ball rolling. Today I write about this in my blog which is a small thing of limited readership to be sure. The thing is that God uses the weak things of this world to confound the mighty. The few that do come here have the power of prayer and have an awesome God as our resource. Keep me in your prayers as I tilt against the next windmill here in La Mancha. Finally I have received more than a letter of award telling me my first month of eligibility is being held back because I may have received SSI. I called and told them that I had not received that and that I needed to pay cash for medical problems like laser eye surgery and oral surgery. As usual I got sympathy but no money yet so round two starts next week since simple things like catching up on the mortgage payment and living expenses are what takes priority at the moment. I had to pay to put down my favorite cat today because he got very sick and two hundred and forty dollars for medical tests is more than I can afford for a probably die anyway cat. I am fond of the critters but being able to feed myself and them is about all I can do. Asher the ratweiler will miss Sid but has other healthy cat buddies to play with. Next I will be looking for a new home church and doing a restart on my responsibilities as a member of the body of Christ for no matter how diseased that part is, God has quietly reminded me that he who is in me is greater than any of he who is in the world.

Lately I have been stumped by all the things going on in my life right now. Mentally I was prepared to be out of contact for the next month at least. I have an appointment with an Oral Surgeon coming up soon to determine when to put me under to remove a broken off and welded to my lower right jawbone impacted wisdom tooth that my small mouth did not have enough room for. Did I tell you I have had bad experiences with oral surgeons in the past? My Army roommate called an ambulance when I hemorrhaged in my sleep after my first surgery. He walked into the room and later told me my bunk had more blood on it than he saw in his first tour of combat in Southeast Asia. Then I went in for a second surgery and had to go to the emergency room at Madigan Army Hospital to have the appliance supporting the roof of my mouth removed several days after the surgery due to infection. Again I bled profusely but my roommate figured I had survived the first episode and only the top half of my bunk was covered in blood so he let me sleep on. With my health the way it is they even have trouble starting an IV on me nowadays so keep me in prayer as I go in for surgery again sometime next month. Now as to assigning priorities I have decided to concentrate most of this blog writing to the Pro life cause. I was posting a comment to Animate Matters the other day and realized that the murder of millions of unborn children is going to be the biggest battle people of faith must wage. In America alone we have suffered over forty million casualties just in children to Satan and his unholy dupes since Roe vs Wade. Over One Hundred Million worldwide which is more than attributed to the murderous scourge of communism. Now the numbing of conscience continues with the kill the cripples campaign. How many thousands have already been put to death in our corrupt Hospice system already? Supported by our corrupted justice system? We can claim to be no better than nazis and communists thanks to our churches and family being too busy fighting each other. God is hearing the blood of innocents calling out to him just as when Cain slew Able. This generation has literally self destructed and is only beginning to understand the consequences of such immorality. Only God's mercy and grace is holding back his judgement on this world. We need repentence and unity to snatch as many as we can from the fire before the end of this world surely comes.

I have been doing some research and actually have heard of this diet at my brother-in-laws church in San Bernadino California where the Pastor was an advocate of the diet before he left under a cloud of suspicion. I did not post the entire article because it is a long one and I also did a web search and study of different 'miracle' remedies and diets. My conclusion was that "Let the buyer beware" is more true today than it ever was before. I think George Malkmus is a fraud and a quack. Many people seem to agree with me. For those who do not maybe you can do a point by point explanation of why I am wrong. My first question is what happens when a duck flies upside down? (humor me because I am trying to make you laugh)

Rev. George M. Malkmus and his Hallelujah Diet

Reverend George M. Malkmus (1934- ) claims to have eliminated his colon cancer and other serious health problems more than 25 years ago by "following biblical principles for a natural diet and healthy lifestyle." He and his wife Rhonda Jean operate Hallelujah Acres, where they hold seminars, sell products, and advocate a diet that features raw fruits and vegetables. Malkmus and his followers claim that his methods have helped people with obesity, cancer, arthritis, and more than 100 other health problems. He is a very eloquent speaker who is capable of inspiring people who trust what he says. This article explains why I do not believe he is trustworthy.
Background History
Malkmus describes his history in books, tapes, lectures, and a newsletter called "Back to the Garden." After graduating from high school in 1952, he began working for a railroad. Soon afterward, however, he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. After fulfilling his military obligation, he married for the first time and returned to work for the railroad. In 1957, he attended a Billy Graham crusade rally in New York City, became a Christian, and decided to become a gospel minister. He attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, graduated from Elohin Bible Institute in New York, and then pastored in various churches in New York, North Carolina, and Florida. During this time he hosted a radio program called "America Needs Christ." [1]
Malkmus states that by his late twenties, he says, he kept needing stronger and stronger eyeglasses and his health "progressively declined" and included problems with hemorrhoids, sinus trouble, allergies, high blood pressure, fatigue, and acne. In 1976, at age 42, he was told he had colon cancer. Instead of pursuing medical treatment, he turned to "an old preacher friend," Lester Roloff, who encouraged him to change from the standard American diet to "the original diet God gave mankind in Genesis 1:29." Within a year, he says, all of his physical problems (including his "baseball-sized" tumor) disappeared [2]. In developing his dietary approach, he studied under Ann Wigmore and Carey Reams, and was also influenced by the writings of Paul Bragg, T.C. Fry, Michael Klaper, John McDougall, Dean Ornish, Joel Robbins, Herbert Shelton, and Norman W. Walker [1]. He has also maintained relationships with Charlotte Gerson (promoter of the Gerson diet, Joel Robbins (a chiropractor who pretends to have a medical degree), Mary Ruth Swope (a physician who claimed for years that Barley Green can cure cancer), and the Contreras family (which operates the Oasis of Hope Hospital (a dubious cancer clinic in Tijuana, Mexico).
Malkmus states that he met Rhonda Jean when she attended a seminar he gave in 1991. At that time, he says, she was very overweight and suffered from severe symptoms of arthritis. Within a year after changing her diet and adopting an exercise program, however, she had lost 85 pounds and her arthritis problems were gone [1]. In 1992, they opened a small health food store and restaurant in Rogersville, Tennessee. Finding that it was successful, they moved to larger quarters in 1993. In 1994, they closed the store, moved their base of operations to a 50-acre farm in Eidson, Tennessee, and launched the Back to the Garden Ministries "to eliminate sickness from the Christian Community in particular and the world in general." [3] They estimate that more than a million people worldwide have tried the Hallelujah Diet [3], more than 3,000 have taken their training [3], hundreds have become "Health Ministers" [4], and more than 220,000 receive Malmus's free newsletter. In 1995, Malkmus received an honorary doctorate degree in literature from Louisiana Baptist Seminary.
In 1997, they relocated their base of operations to Shelby, North Carolina [1]. That same year, Malkmus announced that he had formed a "strategic alliance" under which the Oasis of Hope Hospital would offer the Hallelujah Diet and report on their results. He stated that "for the first time, the cause and effect relationship between diet and disease will be put under scientific scrutiny at a Christian cancer hospital." [5] However, as far as I can tell, no report has been issued.
In 1999, Malkmus claimed that all of his physical problems (including his "baseball-sized" tumor) had disappeared within a year after his cancer was diagnosed and that he had "experienced no sickness or physical breakdown of any kind" since that time [2]. However, in July 2001, he suffered what he describes as a hemorrhagic stroke, which he attributed to excessive stress. Several months later, he wrote:
On July 12, 2001, my body, after 25 years of excellent health, said: "ENOUGH!" Fortunately it was only a mild blood spill on my brain, and I was back speaking again within two weeks of the stroke, and never missed producing my weekly Health Tip or even failing to get it out on time.
It has now been almost 5 months since my stroke and I am back carrying on a full workload. During this time, I did give up 15 scheduled seminars, which were picked up by my personal assistant Olin Idol (who is also a Health Minister), and pastor and Health Minister Graeme Coad. I feel so blessed to have men of this caliber to call upon during time of need, who were willing to stand in the gap.
As of this writing, I am back doing my daily exercise routine, personally fulfilling speaking obligations, and planning for the future. Neither my mind nor my body appears to have any lingering effects from the stroke, even though the doctor at the hospital wanted to inject me with drugs and airlift me to Charlotte on the day of the stroke. FORTUNATELY, MY FAMILY REFUSED these medical treatments at a time when I was unable to make the decision for myself! [In another newsletter he stated that his family had taken him home and treated him with extra Barley Green and carrot juice.]
I did take some herbs for a while to bring down the high blood pressure which followed my stroke, but none of them had any effect on reducing my high blood pressure levels, and so I had to reluctantly resort to some very mild blood pressure medication. Currently, I am slowly weaning myself off these medications, while closely monitoring my blood pressure, and trying to monitor more carefully my stress levels. My blood pressure is currently running in the low normal range! . . . [6]
In January 2002, Idol took over as director of the Back to the Garden Health Ministry.
Whether Malkmus actually had cancer is not clear. In local newspaper report that was published in 1998, Malkmus admitted that he never consulted a cancer specialist for diagnosis but had relied on nutritionists and chiropractors. "We never had any biopsies to prove this," he said, "We don't know it was malignant. We know there was a tumor. We know there was bleeding." [7] The article also reported that Malkmus drank 16 to 24 ounces of carrot juice daily, which is enough to turn a person's skin orange (a condition called carotenemia). But the article did not say whether Malkmus's skin looked orange.
Antagonism toward Standard Health Care
Malkmus asserts that his methods are better and safer than standard health care. He states that his earliest memory is of crying while being wheeled down a corridor into the operating room where his tonsils were removed. He also vividly recollects frequent dental visits in which he experienced "incredible" pain when his teeth were drilled in preparation for fillings [1]. His newsletter dismisses the benefits of immunization, exaggerates the risks, and claims that dietary measures are more effective [8]. He also markets videotapes by Lorraine Day, M.D, a former surgeon who warns people that medical care is "against God's will" and does far more harm than good [9]. With respect to drugs he has written:
All drugs are toxic to the system and create new problems! The solution to our physical problems is not more pollution!
Every drug is liver toxic, even an aspirin! Every drug causes a new problem for which another drug is often necessary to relieve the symptoms of the previous drug. The taking of drugs places a person on a vicious downhill spiral that will create ever more physical problems and ultimately end in an early demise. . . .
The whole approach of the medical community is wrong when it comes to using drugs and other harmful treatments (radiation, chemotherapy, etc.) to deal with disease. They are always talking about cures and treatments for specific symptoms but they will never find a way to cure disease through the use of drugs! The fan mechanism gave out on my air conditioning yesterday. It was only one hundred and eight degrees F So we decided to have a combination barbeque and family outing in our swimming pool. We used materials on hand and rolls of cloth Sally had to make shades for around the pool. Got the grill fired up and cooked the food we will need for at least a week. We even got the old neglected swamp cooler running and got a bit of cool off of that despite it needing a complete replacement of some cooling media. The family had a very busy day indeed. We all worked together and that made it fun. Sally and Alex went to bed early and I had one of the best talks with my two oldest children who are now adults as we stayed up late into the night and early morning. JDRF So Far Away From Those Who Need Help

At this link a sorry story of special interests who ignore the truth. Mike could not even get this published in some places (talk about censorship). Mr. Fumento is a regular contributor to the Scripps Howard News Service. Despite this fact, Scripps Howard has refused to run this column. The author says he has reason to believe this is because of opposition expressed by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to Scripps Howard, urging them not to run this column. According to Mr. Fumento," JDRF contacted Scripps Howard about this column without ever having seen it and before Scripps had even received it" Bestselling author Mike Fumento writes: "Diabetes Foundation Loses its Way."

The slick Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International flyer that appeared in Sunday newspapers throughout the country showed a little girl on monkey bars with her hand just inches from the next bar. "The cure is so close we can almost touch it," her accompanying mother says. Likewise, JDRF Chairwoman Mary Tyler Moore proclaimed in a recent TV commercial, "We are so close to finding a cure."
So wrong. JDRF is the world's largest juvenile diabetes philanthropy, distributing over $85 million in grants last year. Yet it supports no efforts that could lead to a cure any time soon for this blinding and crippling disease that afflicts as many as 1.7 million Americans. Instead it's become a lobby for controversial embryonic stem cell research and refuses to help fund the only study that could soon bring a cure.
Don't take my word for it. On the JDRF website's "stem cell information" page you'll find more links to ESC advocacy articles, editorials/Op-Eds and testimonies than a German wurst-maker has links.
"For further information" it refers readers to a single group – the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research. But the only research CAMR seeks to advance concerns embryos; indeed, it's the nation's largest ESC lobbying group. JDRF was one of the eight founding members of CAMR in 2000 and the 2001 CAMR chairman was Lawrence Soler, currently a vice-president with the JDRF.
JDRF's chairman of program development, Gail Pressberg, is a senior fellow for the left-wing Civil Society Institute, which periodically releases slanted-question polls to persuade the federal and state governments to spend more on ESC research. Speaking of one such poll intended to support a New Jersey ESC bond initiative, Pressberg said in a press release: "This survey shows widespread support in New Jersey for letting the public decide the fate of state funding for stem-cell research." As ESC backers so often do, she left out the word "embryonic" to obfuscate the issue.
The top item on JDRF's "issue information" page is "Embryonic Stem Cell Research," with subcategories like Progress with Embryonic Stem Cell Research. It also bashes what many see as an alternative that's both medically superior and carries no moral baggage – adult stem cells. Its "Limitations of Adult Stem Cell Research" link is packed with such disinformation as "Adult stem cells cannot be induced to develop into any cell type." In fact, since 2002 at least four different labs have published results indicating they can.
Now try the American Diabetes Association website. You won't see glorification of ESCs or bashing of ASCs. Those quaint folk only seem to care about diabetes, not politics.

By no means do all the members of JDRF buy into the ESC propaganda, but they are muzzled by the higher-ups. One form parents were forced to sign to attend the JDRF Children's Congress of 2003 stated: "If there is discussion of such controversial topics as embryonic stem-cell research, I will either embrace the JDRF legislative position on such topics or will not work against the JDRF position."
The JDRF also contributed $1 million to California's Proposition 71, which will funnel $3 billion in state funds to ESC researchers. Rep. Michael Castle, R.-Del., an ardent ESC research advocate, told the National Journal's Neil Munro that JDRF's ESC promotion is "the best lobbying campaign I've ever seen."
The ESC obsession "just flies in the face of their mission," insists Larry Raff, a former JDRF fundraiser and now president of the Autoimmune Disease Research Foundation. Raff and his wife have actually donated embryos for experimentation. But he knows what any honest ESC researcher will tell you – that if ESCs ever translates into any human therapy it won't within the decade. "So close?"
Meanwhile, as I've written previously, Harvard researcher Dr. Denise Faustman was the first to cure diabetes in mice and now seeks funds for a clinical trial to replicate her fantastic results in humans. Thrice she has applied to JDRF; thrice they have rejected her. Never mind her impeccable credentials and that she even reviewed grants for JDRF.
Her transgression seems to be that her treatment involves restoring dead insulin-producing cells in the pancreas with ASCs already present in the body. Despite what the JDRF would have you think there have already been tremendous breakthroughs in ASC therapy, with over 80 treatments and almost 300 human clinical trials underway – versus zero treatments or trials for ESCs. Still, nothing would belie the false claims of ESC lobbyists more than curing diabetes with ASCs.
Of course there may be other reasons for rejecting Faustman, but JDRF won't say what they are. They refused to let me interview them, specifically citing my prior writings favorable to ASC research. Curious, that.
Former top Time Warner executive J. Richard Munro once chaired the JDRF board but is now bitter towards the group and sits on the board of Raff's organization instead. "I'm a huge fan of Denise [Faustman] and simply cannot understand why JDRF won't fund her," he told me. "For 25 years my two sons have been diabetic and it's maddening that nothing has changed."
Nor will it, if we count on the "so close" JDRF.

Terri's Real Family Speaks

Terri Schindler is now free of that control freak named Michael. He thinks he has won but I am here to tell you his problems have only just begun.

As you are aware; the Pinellas County IME has released his report regarding Terri. We would like to thank the IME for his time and effort in making this report. We are not challenging the findings in his report, but we would like to make a few comments publicly. We do not intend to take questions afterwards. First, the IME’s report confirms Terri’s physical condition and disability. We all knew Terri was seriously brain-injured before the IME report. This is nothing new. The IME’s report also confirms that TERRI WAS NOT TERMINAL. THAT TERRI HAD NO LIVING WILL, THAT TERRI HAD A STRONG HEART, and THAT TERRI WAS BRUTALLY DEHYDRATED TO DEATH. Second, our family would encourage the media to remember that this case was allegedly about “Terri’s choice.” There is absolutely no evidence that Terri wanted to die of dehydration, or that she believed that the level of one’s disability gives anyone the moral and legal right to end another’s life. Third, the IME said clearly that dehydration, not her brain injury, was the cause of her death. Terri was dehydrated to death before our eyes The moral shame of what happened is not erased because of Terri’s level of disability. No one would say that “blind people” or “brain-injured” people should be put to death. That would be an irresponsible and heartless position to take. Tragically, that is what happened to Terri. As a society, it seems that we have lost our compassion for the disabled.We asked our attorney, Mr. Gibbs, to meet with the IME prior to the press conference, to attend the IME’s press conference, and to speak to the media for our family afterward. In our opinion, some of the significant items from the IME’s report are as follows:* Terri had a strong heart according to the IME. In addition to her strong heart, Terri also demonstrated a very strong will to live.* Terri was not terminal. The IME said with proper care Terri would have lived at least another 10 years even in her disabled condition. Terri’s case was NOT an end-of-life case. Terri’s case was about ending a disabled person’s life.* Terri was brain-injured. This does NOT mean that she was brain-dead. Many seem to not understand this absolutely critical distinction.* The IME essentially ruled out bulimia and heart attack as causes for Terri’s condition. In one sense the IME’s report created as many questions as it may have answered. The major question for our family that now remains is what happened? A troubling 70-minute gap appears in the timeline on the day Terri collapsed in 1990:* According to Michael Schiavo, Terri collapsed at 4:30 AM. Mr. Schiavo said this on Larry King Live and he also re-confirmed it to the IME during his investigation.* 911 was called at 5:40 AM. Emergency services arrived at 5:52 AM.* Both Bobby Schindler Jr. and the original police report gave similar descriptions as to Terri’s state – laying face first, on the floor, hands crossed and up high against her chest, making gurgling noises.* Our family doesn’t understand what led to Terri’s collapse. Our family doesn’t understand why this major discrepancy in time is not fully understood. When a person is without blood and oxygen to their brain, 70 minutes is a terribly long time when each second counts.* With the IME effectively ruling out bulimia, the underlying basis of the malpractice case appears to now be disproved. Our family would encourage Michael Schiavo to do the right thing and return the funds that were paid by the innocent doctors who were sued for Terri’s collapse. In addition to returning the funds to the doctors who were sued, we would also ask Michael to bring closure to Terri’s death for our family by allowing us to give her a proper Christian burial as required by our faith. To this day, we have no idea where Terri’s ashes are. That is particularly hard on our mother. * The IME’s report stated that Terri’s inability to swallow was the result of muscle atrophy. Terry was denied therapy for 12 years, and muscles atrophy when they are not used. We will never know if therapy would have helped.* The IME clearly stated that PVS is a clinical diagnosis made on a living patient. That is something an IME cannot do by looking at a corpse.* Dr. William Cheshire, a neurologist from the Mayo Clinic, agreed with our family’s perception that Terri was awake, aware, and at least minimally cognitive.* We knew that Terri was visually impaired, but we did not know to what extent. Our attorneys and other witnesses clearly saw Terri recognize her mother and father and treat them differently. According to the IME’s report, it appears that after her severe dehydration, Terri was blind at the moment of her death.* The IME stated that no conclusive medical studies have been done on what a MCS brain should look like as opposed to a PVS brain in an autopsy.* According to the IME, Terri was given morphine for pain as she died. This seems contradictory that if Terri could feel no pain, as some would say, why would these drugs be necessary? Obviously, the pathologists comments that she could not see were not borne out by reality, and thus his assessment must represent sampling error. The videotapes clearly showed her seeing, and even Dr. Cranford, for the husband, commented to her that, when she could see the balloon, she could follow it with her eyes as per his request. That she could not swallow was obviously not borne out by the reality that she was swallowing her saliva, about 1.5 liters per day of liquid, and the clinical swallowing tests done by Dr. Young and Dr. Carpenter. Thus, there appears to be some limitations to the clinical accuracy of an autopsy in evaluating function.With respect to the issue of trauma, that certainly does not appear to be answered adequately. Some of the types of trauma that are suspected were not adequately evaluated in this assessment. Interestingly, both myself and at least one neurologist for the husband testified to the presence of neck injuries. The issue of a forensic evaluation for trauma, is highly specialized. Hence the wish of the family to have observers which was refused by the examiner. Ultimately, based on the clinical evidence and the autopsy results, an aware woman was killed. Dr. W. Can you say “perverse”? Planned Parenthood in Indiana and Kansas is effectively fighting to protect child rapists from potential prosecution in two high-profile legal fights. That an organization devoted to the interests of women finds itself in this position is a cautionary tale of abortion-rights extremism.
In Indiana, the attorney general is seeking the records of girls under the age of 14 who have visited Planned Parenthood clinics. Let that sink in: We’re talking about 12- and 13-year- old girls. It is a crime to have sex with a child under 14 in the state. Under law, individuals with reason to believe a child is a victim of sex abuse are required to report it to the proper authorities. In Kansas, the attorney general is carrying on the same fight (he is also looking for evidence of illegal late-term abortions).An Indiana judge has just upheld the Indiana attorney general’s request, although the case is under appeal. “The great public interest,” the county superior judge wrote, “in the reporting, investigation and prosecution of child abuse trumps even the patient’s interest in privileged communication with her physician because, in the end, both the patient and the state are benefited by the disclosure.” The loopiest free-sex advocates might imagine that after sex-ed courses on how to put a condom on a banana, 13-year-old girls blissfully explore their bodies with 13-year-old boys. Put aside that this vision will make most parents gag — it’s not how it works. Teen sex often involves adult men exploiting teen girls. Estimates are that in 60 percent or more of teen births, the father is an adult. A California study found that the fathers in births to junior-high-school mothers were on average nearly 7 years older.Why would a feminist organization not be eager to cooperate in a fight against the sexual exploitation of young girls? Well, Planned Parenthood represents that wing of the feminist billed as “sex positive.” Although that phrase doesn’t quite capture it. Planned Parenthood is developing the “statutory rape-positive” wing of feminism.These feminists are unwilling to pass judgment on any sex in any circumstances, don’t care if parents are cut out of the equation entirely, believe the right to an abortion trumps any other consideration, and embrace a notion of privacy so sweeping it includes men who have, under law, raped their young sexual partners. If only Michael Jackson were interested in girls instead of boys, he might, in the right circumstances, have a friend in Planned Parenthood.Privacy is a mere excuse not to provide the records. It is not at all unusual for criminal prosecutions to involve medical records. And no one is going to make public the names of the girls involved, which are being provided to the authorities, not the news media. “We’ve been doing these investigations since the 1970s, and there’s never been a case where we have not maintained the confidentiality of records,” Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter told a local columnist. In Kansas — where the case is pending before the state supreme court — Attorney General Phill Kline authored the state’s rape shield law when he was in the legislature. It is not the girl in any of these cases who will be in jeopardy, but her adult abuser (if there is one).This fight is so important because our culture relentlessly sexualizes children. The message, for instance, of Britney Spears’s act before she came of age was “teen girls are hot.” Pop culture won’t change, but the law can at least try to send an opposite signal.Key Democrats from Hillary Clinton to Howard Dean have of late said their party needs to become more moderate on abortion. They could add substance to the rhetoric by opposing Planned Parenthood’s position in these cases. Of course, that will never happen. The abortion absolutists control the Democratic party, a sad fact for those Americans who have moral qualms about abortion, but a happy one for men who impregnate 13-year-olds.

Remember the tsunami? Big story, 300,000 dead; America and other rich countries too "stingy" in their response; government ministers from every capital on earth announcing on CNN every 10 minutes more and more millions and gazillions. It was in all the papers for a week or two, but not a lot of water under the bridge since then, and as a result this interesting statistic may not have caught your eye:
Five hundred containers, representing one-quarter of all aid sent to Sri Lanka since the tsunami hit on Dec. 26, are still sitting on the dock in Colombo, unclaimed or unprocessed.
At the Indonesian port of Medan, 1,500 containers of aid are still sitting on the dock.
Four months ago, did you chip in to the tsunami relief effort? Did your company? A Scottish subsidiary of the Body Shop donated a 40-foot container of "Lemon Squidgit" and other premium soap, which arrived at Medan in January and has languished there ever since because of "incomplete paperwork,'' according to Indonesian customs officials.
Well, those soapy Scots were winging it -- like so many of us, eager to help but too naive to understand that, no matter the scale of devastation visited upon a hapless developing nation, its obstructionist bureaucracy will emerge from the rubble unscathed. Yet, among the exhaustive examples of wasted Western generosity unearthed by the Financial Times, what struck me was not the free-lancers but the permanent floating crap game of international high-rollers who couldn't penetrate the labyrinth of Indonesian paperwork.

Too many institutions like Planned Parenthood and the ACLU have given criminals more rights than the victims. It is past time for the pendulum to swing back toward a balanced center. I got a few emails from some Christians after my last column, “A Time to Kill,” ran. They found my easiness with executing confessed and convicted child molesters, rapists and murderers to be offensive and un-Christ like. They stated that I showed a “lack of love” for these culprits whom Christ “cares for,” and that I should “err on the side of mercy” towards these marauders and “love my enemies,” as this would be “the Christian thing to do.” Yes, I was electronically told by this, merciful-to-the-molester-minority, who thinks they’re siding with God when they support sustaining killers who forcefully copulate with kids, that I am to “love the sinner and hate the sin.”
Well, Kum-Ba-Frickin’- Yah!
Excuse me . . . but I still think that we should go Old Testament on guilty child molesters and ought to end their sad story in a selected gravel pit ala a community stoning.
I hate to seem heretical and hellish to such bleeding hearts, but my pity begins and ends with the raped or molested or murdered child, and I really don’t care about the perpetrator who has harmed the helpless. As far as I’m concerned, once you rape a little kid you officially get logged onto heaven’s eternal jerk roll and should be irrevocably placed on the must-die-quick list.
As far as my duty to my enemy or neighbor, I believe the biblical injunction/ maxim is to “love my neighbor and my enemy as I love myself.”
Here are my thoughts on me “loving me” if I were the one to have kidnapped a nine year old little girl, then raped her, then buried her alive, then stuck her in a 55-gallon Hefty trash sack, then left her in a shallow grave to die:
If I did such a damnable act and really loved myself, then I would dutifully subject my person to punishment—in particular to death. Yes, if I really loved myself, I would bear responsibility for my actions, which means that I would insist on taking one for the team by leaving this planet, via execution, because I have just violently offended the sensibility of the entire human collective.
If I were the toad that took the life of the Lundsford or the Lunde girl, the right “Christian” thing to do to show that I “love myself” would be to confess to the crime, give myself up to the police, seek forgiveness from Almighty God (and beg it from all family members of my victim) and then ask to be deleted. I’m not part of the Kool-Aid drinkers who think “loving your enemy as one loves himself” excludes punishing to death the perpetrator—whether it’s someone else or me.
Here’s what we are up against in the formerly good ole US of A. Think about this before you talk about showing “love and mercy” to molesters and start doling out religious quips and clichés to those of us who are trying to put an end to these predators prowling our parks. Here’s some reality, Saccharine Saint—if you can handle it.
REALITY: There are more than 2 million convicted sex offenders currently living among us, not in prison.
REALITY: Over a 25-year period, more than half of all child molesters will be rearrested for a new sex offense charge.
REALITY: We release more than 200,000 criminals from prison each year, and they go on to commit an extraordinary number of new crimes. For example, during just the first three years following release, these criminals commit more than 3,000 new homicides, more than 3,000 new rapes and more than 3,000 new sex assaults against children. In other words, just like the terrorists of “9/11” who killed 3,000 Americans, we release criminals every year who we know will commit more “9/11’s”.
REALITY: More than 2/3 of all criminals released from prison will be rearrested within three years.
REALITY: The average time served for rape is just six years.
REALITY: The average time served for molesting a child is just three years.
REALITY: Most studies of repeat offenders are designed to hide the true extent of this scandal. Typically, they follow released criminals for just two or three years. But one 25-year study showed that 3/4 of all subsequent convictions occurred more than three years after the criminal’s release from prison. In other words, a study that tracks offenders for just three years misses 75% of the future crimes they will commit on innocent people.
REALITY: Even if your state has long prison sentences, don’t think that makes you safe. One in eight released felons commits their next offense in a different state from the one where they served their time.
REALITY: Ever heard of the car and the bus? Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent each year maintaining address lists of released sex offenders, without any acknowledgement by law enforcement or public officials that nothing prevents a released child molester or rapist from getting in a car or a bus, going to another neighborhood and committing a new crime there. Every day in America, sex offenders fully compliant with Megan’s Law commit new rapes and child molestations.
REALITY: A released felon is 53 times more likely than the average man on the street to commit a subsequent homicide.
REALITY: While advocates of releasing predators cite the cost of incarceration ($17,000-$25,000 per year) as too great for government to pay to keep criminals behind bars, NO STUDY has ever tried to calculate the cost to society of the millions of women who have been raped, the millions of children who have been molested, the loss to a family when a loved one is murdered or the cost when someone is mugged or robbed or carjacked.

My ClashPoint is this: I understand the need for humans to seem humane and for Christians to seem supernatural in their ability to be “merciful and loving” to the best of the worst, but I submit that being supernatural in their ability to be merciful & loving is more important than seeming so . . . and it should start with showing love & mercy to our children and neighbors first—by protecting them from these savages. Sometimes the most loving and merciful act to be shown a criminal is to prevent him from doing more harm. And someone had better begin doling out death sentences for child molesters, or our neighborhoods are quickly going to turn into one big Neverland Ranch.

Sorry folks, I am still kind of dysfunctional. Turning fifty and realizing that automatically makes me a member of AARP (not to mention that they are run by Dumbocrats and traitors by nature) is sobering to say the least. I still remember the days when I was the 'kid' on the block. The fact is that my medical problems have only gotten worse and it is painful to do simple physical activities any more. I find it difficult to be much of a mentor to the younger people that I have trained in the past. They have grown up and are moving on as it should be but I am stuck with filling out paperwork as I am forced to apply for a disability retirement before the inevitable slide into end of life issues. I have worked hard enough that I can at least enjoy some fruit of my labors and still be there for my family for now. Life is what you make of it and when time runs out I hope that each of you can face it with courage as you are thankful for what you have been so freely blessed with. Therin lies my dilemma and difficulty in posting something as painful yet real as it gets. My cardiac doc was having a frank discussion with me the other day and told me that guys like me have a tendency to suddenly drop dead. So if you quit hearing from me that is the most likely event. I know some trolls will be made happy by this news but that is OK because I know that I will be in a much better place and having the first laughs of the rest of my marvelous new life.

I have ideas that are only vaguely formed bubbling around and when life slows down a bit I am sure I will have plenty of well measured things to say. According to some of my tightly wound theological buddies, as a Protestant Christian, I’m not supposed to say anything favorable about a Catholic, especially … a Pope. Oh well, I’ve got to give honor where honor is due, so pardon me, brethren, if I praise the former pontiff’s past achievements.
Even though I disagree with Catholicism’s soteriology, and from a fashion and function standpoint I don’t get their funky hats or the Elvis-like papal robes, or their elaborate walking sticks, I’ve got to admit that I appreciate John Paul II’s accomplishments for the human collective and his unwavering moral convictions in the face of amoral, bossy and prissy secularism.
Yeah … The Pope did what was right, and in his genteel, non-Doug-like way, let everyone know they could kiss his Polish posterior if they didn’t like what he stood for. And I personally dig that in a priest, pastor, pope or whatever you want to call a religious leader.
Why does this palpably appeal to me? Well, for one revoltingly obvious reason: namely, in many churches today, both Protestant and Catholic, we are inundated with no-guts, wind-testing, capitulating clerical slaves of public opinion who neither lead, follow, nor … get out of our way. I believe large portions of the pastorate today have become nicer than Christ and have forgotten the injunction in the scripture to take uncomfortable stands for righteousness when things begin to get twisted. John Paul II did just that. Check it out.
While many ministers were pulling lint from their navels, or embroiled in a scandal for trying to hump an altar boy, or chasing rich donors, or vacillating on the major issues, John Paul II was serious business. He didn’t ignore the societal nightmare that was communism; he didn’t waffle in his biblical stance on issues such as sexuality, marriage, abortion, infanticide, suicide and euthanasia. He didn’t mellow his mouth regarding the place of religion and religiously informed moral judgment in public life. Yes, the latest Pope was solid in his deep disregard for the “progressive” agenda.
Speaking of the progressives … There’s been a lot of chatter and blather from the loopy left about getting a more secularized pope, a Pope Lite. One who is not an old geezer with respect to his view of right and wrong. Y’know… maybe a metrosexual hip guy, in the vein of Ross on Friends, malleable in his beliefs and muddled in his worldview. One, unlike John Paul II, whom they can bend and stretch like Gumby to fit their licentious lives and liberal take on life.
I, on the other hand, would like to see the subsequent servant be a retro pope and sport the same holy moral nerve of the last pontiff. A veritable papal cowboy who is not indecisive and dithering regarding the verbum Dei, even in this decrepit day of overt ministerial wussification.
Yeah … I’d like to see the next pope keep an old school devotion to the Christ of the Bible, teach the word of God (as is), and maintain a traditional view of life, sex and marriage, not prostrate himself to the “progressives.”
I’d like to see the next Pope exchange his white robes for a black leather cape like Morpheus had in The Matrix and trade in the Popemobile for a Harley Fat Boy. At least on the weekends.
I’d like to see the Catholic Church let the next guy get married, as St. Paul said was a minister’s right, to a girl like Salma Hayek and have some kids. This in turn would, hopefully, cause thousands of other priests to follow that which is normal.
I’d like to see the next pope take that gold-plated shepherd’s staff and publicly pulverize any priest who has committed an act of pedophilia and then personally escort such a Judas Priest to the papal dungeon to a) be executed or b) be forgotten forever. Can I get an amen? Amen
I’d also like to see everyone leave the next pope the heck alone and not force him to be just a “nice guy”… like most ministers have been reduced to, but rather a truth dealer… a herald and defender of God’s word … who doesn’t give a flip about the feelings of the secular squabs.

My ClashPoint is this: John Paul II faced communist thugs, absorbed a would-be assassin’s bullet, and didn’t bat an eye when the world didn’t like his moral stances. And that’s the kind of holy chutzpah the Catholic Church needs to fill his now empty Chukka boots.
Pope John Paul II understood that a traditional, biblical worldview is the moral rudder that will keep us sailing in the new millennium. I just hope that the Catholic Church will yield up another leader who will fight that which is foul when in floats to the top of society and carry on John Paul II’s attitude and actions. Yes, we need, must have, an old school, JP II-like pope and not a progressive dope.

Here I go again trying to add text to a posted picture from Hello. My thanks to Bane who got here first but was unable to post I changed the settings to 'All' so try again bud. Yes Wes I had to erase some posts that comments were made on. My apologies to you and Ruth at In the Name of Quad who posted to my first messed up post that also got deleted because every edit made things worse. Arielle you got the first and maybe only sucessful post by technical knockout. (gotta watch the left hook on her fer sure) Well here goes my latest attempt.

I started this blog because I love my now nineteen year old son Alex and wanted to share some of his story in pictures and history. My motto is that only love is tough enough to outlast stupidity. There are examples of the early years in the picture link. There will be more as my daughter just got finished doing a powerpoint presentation as part of her college work toward a teaching degree.Alex was born two months prematurely in a rural area of Arizona. He is multiply handicapped. We were told he would never talk and he does. They told us he would be blind and he can see. They asked us if we did not want him and if the state should take care of him. We told the doctors he is our child and we will take him home because we love him. We did and we have been through a lot together. The surgeries, the pneumonia, asthma and reflux projectile vomiting. He has participated in Special Olympics, school and church not to mention having great fun at Disneyland. He is a vital part of our family and community. Here is a link for pictures.
